Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi says the governor elect of his state, Nyesom Wike cannot accuse him of being corrupt and wanting to probe him because according to him "a thief cannot call me corrupt". Wike had on Monday said in a press release that he will be probing Governor Ameachi once he assumes power as Governor on Friday May 29th.

Speaking yesterday May 26th at a public lecture at the Dr. Obi Wali International Convention Centre as part of the activities to mark his 50th birthday which is today May 27th, Gov Amaechi said he had being listening to Wike who should not forget was once his Chief of staff and that if he had no other records at all, he has the records of Wike while he served as his COS.
Governor Amaechi in his speech said he had never killed anyone and will never kill anyone for whatever reason.
"I have been listening to Mr. Nyesom Wike and I have been trying not to reply him. He has been accusing me of corruption and I have been trying to keep quiet over the issue of corruption. A thief cannot call me corrupt. The first lesson he needs to learn is that he was Chief of Staff to my government. If I have no records, I have records on him. One way we succeeded in moving this state forward was that we refused to probe Dr. Peter Odili’s government, despite the pressure on me to probe Dr. Odili’s government, because at the end of the day, they will not ask me the number of persons I probed, but what I did while in government.
This convention centre (built by his government) is one of the testimonies. If we had gone to the Obi Wali Cultural Centre (in Mile One, Diobu, Port Harcourt, now taken over by Sliverbird Cinema), the hall would have looked very full. This hall accommodates 2,200 persons. The convention centre is very big. On top of the roof is a plenty space for big parties, for those who want to organise ‘Owambe’ and there are many conference/committee rooms in the hall. “The road to Nyesom Wike’s father’s house was built by me.
A relation of mine was killed in front of Wike’s father’s house, during the 2015 general elections. I am a Christian. I have never killed anybody and I will never kill anybody. Instead of killing somebody, I will give up my ambition. Anybody’s life is greater than any ambition I will have on earth. Nigerians need to be honest and transparent. I recently had a conversation with my first son on the phone and he said he was proud of me, because they cannot write the history of Nigeria, and the transition from one civilian government to another, without including me.
I laughed and my son said everybody knew the role I played, the struggle and the fact that my family was torn into different parts and my children could not see me, but that they are proud to have a father like me. That, for me, is my greatest achievement. God did not put me to shame. I will be leaving office as Rivers Governor very proud. President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife (Dame Patience); Nyesom Wike; soldiers and police could not remove me from office. When I pray, in front of me all the time is God. That is why I am always victorious. If you want to fight me, you must first defeat God, which is impossible. Nobody can overcome God. I have won already.”he said

4 Anglican priests, were on Friday allegedly brutally beaten by some members a task-force working with the Enugu State Housing Corporation. The victims were Reverends Collins Odoabuchi, Mbaka Peter, Eugene, and Maxwell Onyia. Others members of the church affected were Ekpecha Okechukwu and Naomi Ibekwe.

The incident, which is building up tension in Enugu, happened a week to the end of Governor Sullivan Chime’s administration.
It was gathered that trouble started when members of the task force, accompanied by armed policemen, invaded a parcel of land that belong to the Christ Church, Uwani, Anglican Communion, and tried to demolish it with 5 bulldozers without saying anything to them first. This invasion angered the priests and members of the church.
The Clerics were said to have tried to stop the Task force from carrying out the demolition exercise but were over powered by the government agents, who allegedly attacked the church leaders and mercilessly beat them up.
One of the victims, who gave her name as Naomi Ibekwe told journalists that she was hit with iron and stones, which left her with severe injuries bruises.
Fortunately, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, arrived at the the scene to stop the assault.
Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Mohammed, told the angry church leaders and their faithful that they should allow peace to reign as negotiation had begun.
“We have discussed with the church. If anybody is injured, we will not take it lightly. We have already asked that a formal report be made and we will follow it up. We have agreed on a peace move and we are following it up”, he stated. Also speaking, the Priest in-charge of the Christ Church, Venerable N. Aghadi said,
“We have talked at length and discussed very progressively. “The Commissioner of Police is pleading that we should go home and rest. He has promised that the matter is in good hand and that immediately the Archbishop returns, he will have meeting with him”.However, a source told Saturday Vanguard that the state government revoked the land with an intention to build an estate christened “Transparency Estate”.

A 14-year-old Dallas girl who drowned a 2 month old baby out of jealousy was sentenced by a juvenile court judge on Friday to 40 years in custody, the maximum punishment available, after admitting to drowning the infant in January, court officials said.

The teenager will begin serving her sentence in state custody of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. A judge will determine whether she is eligible for parole before her 19th birthday or should be transferred to an adult prison.
In a juvenile lockup, the girl will have more options than if she had been tried as adult. She will go to school and get counseling.
Investigators said the girl confessed to submerging 2-month-old Justice
Hull in a bowl of water because she did not want her mother to adopt the
baby. The teenager's mother was at work at the time of the incident.
George Ashford, the teen’s attorney, said he wasn’t surprised by the sentence. He said the victory for his client came earlier this year when the case was not moved to adult court.

‘’to expedite action on the compensation of victims of Boko Haram terrorism and insurgency through the established and funded Victims’ Support Fund,’’ and for urgent priority attention to the special economic programme for the North East by the incoming administration, just as they condemned ‘’the carnage, devastations and displacements, which the Boko Haram group inflicted upon many innocent Nigerians in the north east region.’’
They also called
‘’for the establishment of a special economic programme for the affected states of the North-East, focusing on rehabilitation, resettlement and reconstruction,’’ as well as on the need for ‘’the governors of the North-East States and indeed of the entire North, on the necessity for a blueprint that addresses the issues of vocational and skills-acquisition education for the youths.’’However, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, dismissed the request saying it would amount to rewarding criminals instead of punishing them for crimes against humanity.
